Here I am in Las Vegas for the meeting of the minds with the top fitness pros in the US and Canada. I have four fellow Canadians here and we’re really enjoying the LV weather and sights. Vegas is really such an unbelievable place for me. It’s like a total sensory overload when I go to the strip. We were in the conference from 9-5 yesterday and the same will go today, but I did get a chance to go for sushi and walk the strip last night. Good thing I”m with good friends that tend to take me by the hand and drag me along as I feel like I’m a kid with big eyes and my jaw hanging open. Just so much to take in, and that’s just the lights, sounds and crazy peeps. We stopped at the Bellagio fountain and took that in for awhile, amazing.
So, I actually slept in today and needed to get in a quick hotel workout. I thought I’d share it with you as I know this is the sort of thing you like to see on the blog. Sorry no video today, no one to tape me.
As some of you know, I’ve been challenged to do 200 push ups a day, so I thought that I’d incorporate this into my mini hotel workout. By the way, I encourage you to take on a physical challenge such as this 200 push up/day challenge. It doesn’t matter what the challenge is, remember I’m a sort of ‘over the top’ type person when it comes to training so you may not want to try my challenge. Choose something that’s tough for you but doable and do it daily. Honestly it’s sometimes more about mental toughness than the physical challenge at times. (Like the time I was about to hop into bed when I realized I forgot to do my push ups that day. So, I had to do them before sleeping.)
Back to the workout:
4 sets, (not timed):
50 push ups (or to failure, get as many as you can)
50 knee ins
25 squat jumps
25 lateral lunges
Rest one minute and repeat
That’s it. See how easy it is to throw a workout together with nothing?
The main thing with training is really 1% knowledge, or knowing what to do, and 99% effort-just doing it!
Okay, so I’m off to the conference now. I hope you try this fast workout at home or traveling sometime, let me know what you think of it.
Never miss a workout with my travel workout plans. You’ll get 20 ‘done for you’ easy to follow workouts HERE.
Shawna, how do I order your video?
Yikes! I am off to Victoria – maybe I will try it there!
squat jumps are so hard for me, but I know how beneficial they are. Thanks for the workout.
I think you are amazing ( I know stalker fan like!) I love what I do and I would love to know that you saw my website. I will order your products. I look forward to more posts BTW did your 100 rep workout with my 2 year old couch and ouch! Jules
I was recently reminded that my arms aren’t as strong as I sometimes think (city Chase event jogged my memory!), so though I won’t be starting at 200 pushups, my self challenge for the next 30 days is to do 50 push ups a day, and by day 30, at least 25 of them have to be from the toes… Now it’s in writing so it has to happen! Thanks Shawna for all your valuable information!
@Janette: Go to the link on the side of this blog or to http://www.femalefatlossoverforty.com
@Karen: Go girl! Victoria will never be the same!
@Tammy: You can always do the squat jump without the jump (just raise up onto your toes), especially if the jumps bother the knees.
@Jules: Thanks (I think) and what is your website? Good on you for training with your 2 year old!
@Tracy: Love your goal!! And I hope you found City Chase to be a great event, lots of challenges and fun. Keep me posted on your push up challenge!
Challenge: I love that Tracy set a daily push up challenge for herself. Anyone else out there who will step up? It’s best to get some social support, so tell us all about it!
Female Fat Loss Over Forty
Shawna having been to your boot camps and having also purchased your female Fat Loss over Forty what I find very helpful is your exercise library. When I can’t make it to boot camp or am out of town the illustrations and the description becomes very useful. The illustrations show the exercise at different stages of the movement and the description puts it all together. Thanks for all the info and encouragement.
